These little tunes are generated by driving the midi feature of the sound card directly, without using midi-files or any media players. This is achieved by means of the VicMusicLib.dll dynamic link library, written by Victor Gomersall in May 2001. This library in turn, calls the Windows API sound-card routines.  This web page was generated in VB6 as a Dynamic HTML page.

If you are interested in learning about musical instruments, their history, photos, their sounds, and famous music written for each instrument, then the musicology section of Musical Discovery covers all the orchestral instruments, together with world or ethnic instruments, and those used in jazz and popular music.  Musical Discovery is software which teaches the theory of music, and also contains a database of over 550 tunes,  classical, folk, jazz and popular. It also has a composing tools section.  All screens are interactive, and you can watch the music on the staff as it is played.
