Discover the joy in music, the theory of music, and the science behind music,  with Musical Discovery.

Musical Discovery introductory offer - full version only $99
Introduction
  • Follow a comprehensive course in music theory for your own interest, or, if you are studying for music theory exams with AMEB, ABRSM or Trinity, the Learning Guide lists the screens for your current grade.
  • Explore the works of  famous composers from the renaissance to the present day, and compare their lifetimes with historical events on a time-line. Read about the countries in which they were born.
  • Hear your favourite melodies whilst watching a musical staff, or the note names and intervals. See an analysis of the tonal and rhythmic characteristics of any tune, whilst listening.
  • Test your ear by recognizing intervals and chords. Find out if you possess the gift of absolute pitch! See if you recognize tunes played at random from Musical Discovery's collection.
  • Learn about harmony and chord progressions, and practice recognizing them. Harmonize a melody using classical or modern chord notation. Generate accompaniments from your chord pattern input.
  • Understand the maths and physics of sound waves, and why some harmonies are sweeter than others.
  • Compose your own melodies and arrangements, using the tune generator, or writing onto a music staff on the screen, and put it all together with the composing tools. Learn how Mozart designed the form of his masterpieces, and mix and match some of his themes with your own!

Musical Discovery Upgrade Policy
The new low price of $49 for the full version applies to Musical Discovery Version 1.  Service revisions and minor version upgrades will be free of charge to registered purchasers.  An upgrade path for current users will be available when new major version updates are released.

The scope of Musical Discovery is very broad, and it is likely that new major version releases will be more expensive than the current low price of $49. Future versions will be available as a series of separate modules.
