Music for listening
Musical Discovery has over 550 pieces of music stored in its database.
Introduction Some of these are full pieces, such as folk songs, movements from symphonies and concertos, jazz and popular tunes.   Others are extracts from such pieces, and yet others are themes from them.

An attempt has been made to include the main themes from the most famous symphonies, concertos and other works of the great composers. You can see the score whilst listening.

Musical Discovery employs the MIDI system to play music.  MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface.   The music is stored in a database, catalogued by composer, category, ensemble, solo instrument, style/period, and country. The sounds are generated by the sound card in your computer, or by an external sound module connected to your computer.  The quality of the sound will depend on the quality of your sound card or module, and on the quality of your amplification and speaker setup. Musical Discovery does not incorporate live digital recordings, such as those on a CD.

In the Music for Listening screen, you can select your tune from a hierarchical tree organized by composer, or ensemble, or style/period, or instrument, or country, etc. Simply click on the tune you want, and it will play.  You can then switch to other screens, such as the music notation view to see the score,  if you wish.
